Windows 2000 Dial-up Networking Setup
Step 1. On the Start Menu, move the mouse to Settings to open the sub menu, and then click on Control Panel.

 
Step 2. In Control Panel, double-click on Network and Dial-up Connections.

 
Step 3. In the Network and Dial-up Connections window, double-click on Make New Connection.

 
Step 4. Click Next in the Network Connection Wizard.

 
Step 5. Click to place a dot in the circle next to Dial-up to the Internet. Click Next.

 
Step 6. Click to place a dot in the circle next to “I want to setup my Internet connection manually, or I want to connect through a local area network (LAN)”. Click Next.

 
Step 7. Click to place a dot in “I connect through a phone line and a modem”. Click Next.

 
Step 8. Enter the Area Code and Phone Number in appropriate boxes,
then click to place a check mark in “Use area code and dialing rules”. Click Next.

 
Step 9. Enter entire email address for Username box, enter Password, then Click Next.

 
Step 10. Enter Hockhocking Internet for Connection Name. Click Next.

 
Step 11. Click to place a dot in the circle next to Yes, then click Next.

 
Step 12. Enter your name, then click Next.

 
Step 13. Enter your hockhocking.net email address, then click Next.

 
Step 14. Enter mail.hockhocking.net for both the Incoming mail server and the Outgoing mail server. Click Next.

 
Step 15. Enter your hockhocking.net address into the account name box and password into its box and then click Next. (note: To avoid future errors and complications, DO NOT place a check mark in “Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)”)

 
Step 16. Click to place a check mark in the box that says “To connect to the Internet immediately, select this box and then click Finish.” Once that box is checked, click the Finish button.
Step 17. When you come back to the Dial-up Networking window, right-click on the Hockhocking Internet icon and choose Create Shortcut.
Step 18. Right-click on Hockhocking Internet and choose “Create Shortcut”. A dialog box will appear that says, “Windows can not create a shortcut here. Do you want Windows to place the shortcut on the desktop instead?” Click Yes. Close Dial-Up Networking.
